Midsommar is the second horror film from the mind of Ari Aster. Right off the bat, this film is fucking weird! This film is the funniest and most disturbing film I have seen this year! I honestly really enjoyed this film! The acting was great and the cinematography and set pieces were beautiful! The aesthetic was creepy, but the movie wasn’t visually scary. Which is great! The movie messed with your head and you felt vulnerable the whole time! The film did a great job of making you feel new to this environment and you honestly did not have any clue what was going on! This film was also very detailed. Whenever the characters were on a drug, the film visually looked like you were on a drug too! Flowers were breathing, people looked misshapen and the whole environment just seemed to have this weird flow to it! The film was also hilarious! I do not want to spoil anything, but for real this movie is fucking funny! Take caution though, this film is very disturbing. The film did not shy away from anything, which I liked. Some people in my theater walked out! There is one scene in particular that is so shocking and disturbing that the whole vibe in my theater changed! Very few horror films can do that! In the end, Midsommar is an amazing horror film that disturbs its audience while telling an original story with some amazing acting and some hilarious scenes!
