Stranger Things 3 is the third season to this iconic series. I was very excited and I have to say… it was kind of a mixed bag. I have many likes and dislikes about this season! I’ll start off with the positives. The show is very pleasing to the eye and the set design is phenomenal! The acting is great and most of the dialogue is really well written! I really enjoyed Dustin, Steve’s and Robins plot line! I thought the comedy landed and the interactions between the characters were very fun and entertaining to watch! I also really liked Billy’s backstory and him as a character this season! He went through a tough childhood so it was nice to understand why he was the way he was in season 2 and the beginning of season 3. His death felt satisfying at the end, as we see him redeem himself and try to save 11. I really like how emotional the season was and how different characters cope with different things! While this does not have the dramatic slow burn effect of the last 2 seasons, it is the most entertaining and energetic season! Now let’s get into the bad. The story…is lazy! It felt like they really had no idea what to do for the Mind Flare to come back so they decided …Russians! We do not know why the Russians are there and we don’t know what they want! The secret base is underground the fucking mall! HOW THE FUCK WOULD NO ONE NOTICE THAT! Then the Mind Flare comes out of the upside down somehow and figures out how to become a solid creature when he could have just done that season 2! There is a lot more lazy writing and I would say more but it would take up about 2 pages! My other problem is how useless some of the characters are! A lot of the kids just end up being useless until the end, especially Will! Will is like a metal detector whenever the Mind Flare is close to them, but we already know where the Mind Flare is or what the Mind Flares doing before Will ever says anything! He just felt pointless and felt shoved in there because he’s part of the main cast! Also, Hopper and Joyce were the most annoying and useless characters in the show! All they did was argue and scream in every scene they were in! I could get if that was like the comic relief of the show, but it just got annoying after the second time! Hopper and Joyce’s plot line gave nothing to the fucking story though! They didn’t get correct coordinates for the base and they got the wrong password for the deactivation key! All they did was turn the key thing to open the upside down off ! That’s it! Anyone could have fucking done that! Oh, and Hopper dies in the most bullshit was possible! He dies because the Russian Terminator throws him outside of the safe room towards the giant ray key! Why the fuck would the Russian do that! He knows what that thing can do, but yet still decides to fight Hopper as close as possible to that thing! Once Hopper kills the Russian dude, he fucking has a good 30 seconds to escape from 2 exits! No, he just stands there and looks at Joyce and decides to die! Being a hero? Nope, being a dumb ass! The show is just full of bad writing! In the end, Stranger Things 3 has great chemistry between characters and beautiful set design with some amazing cinematography and powerful emotional moments, but is filled with lazy writing and a story that just doesn’t make sense!
