Child’s Play is a 2019 REBOOT of the 1988 horror classic of the same name. Now before I go on, I am not comparing this film to the original. It is a reboot, it is supposed to be different. I have seen both and like both for what they are separately. This film is a ton of fucking fun! I had a smile on my face the whole time! This movie was suspenseful, funny and charming! This film had great acting all around and Mark Hamill did a great job of playing Chucky! I love the relationship between Andy and Chucky in this film! Chucky is more of a fleshed out character and you couldn’t help but feel bad for him a couple times. He was confused and only did what he did to make Andy happy. It really brought new meaning to the character. The kills were as gory as ever and we had some horrifying and dark moments with Chucky, which was great to see! The score in this film is scary and beautiful at the same time! The colors in this film are gorgeous looking and the cinematography in some scenes in phenomenal. The film was very well made! My main problem with this film is how the film can be kind of choppy. This film is very short with a runtime of 90 minutes. The film jumps around a lot and when the resolution is solved, the movie is over. If the movie had some better writing for the story and a longer run time then I think the film would shine more! In the end, Child’s Play is fun and entertaining film that has some great characters in a beautiful looking film, but the story feels like it was rushed and the run time was way too short.
